Heathrow Owl and pet Rescue is a privately funded family rescue organisation which aids a wide range of different wild and domesticated animals.  We rely fully on our own funds as well as donations from our friends and supporters, and would be unable to operate without this help.  All generous donations are utilised 100% to feed and provide safe, secure enclosures for all rescued animals.  We work in connection with other rescue centres around the country to ensure the most suitable permenent home for each individual animal is sought.  Many of our cases include animals that have been neglected and treated poorly, with insufficient diet and inadequate enclosures.  Trained, experienced handlers rehabilitate the animals and ensure any necessary veterinary care is sought.

In addition to attending shows we also undertake educational school visits.  This involves us traveling to schools with a range of our rescued animals and educating the children about each of these animals.  When visiting a school we ensure that all classes are able to experience the animals in close proximity, and share our knowledge about the animals, allowing children to interact with them and ask questions.  Once each class has had their encounter with the animals we then conduct an owl flying demonstration for the whole school to enjoy to conclude our visit.  Our educational visits tie in well with the 'Nocturnal Animals' science unit largely studied in Year 2, it also links well with the Upper Key Stage 2 area of animal adaptations.  Furthermore, such visits allow children to experience some British and European animals that they may otherwise not come into close contact with.
